The Calgary Interfaith Council supports the desire of its members to build a more just and respectful Calgary through:

A weekend connecting Calgarians from diverse faith traditions, sharing faith traditions and extending hospitality, which includes:

United Nations World Interfaith Harmony Week: Feb. 1-7, 2026

Joining faith communities all over the world, the CIC has been celebrating UNWIHW since 2017, when it received first prize from the organizing committee hosted by the King of Jordan. This week includes 

  • Opening Ceremony at City Hall 
  • Online daily prayers from different faiths
  • Caring for our common home: wisdom from faith traditions about caring for the Earth 
  • Collaborations with the University of Calgary
  • A community building event for women
  • A mini conference on the practise of service (charity, Seva, Saddaqah, Tzedakah) across faith traditions

Calgary Interfaith Breakfast: May 14, 2026

Hosted with the Office of the Mayor, this event is a celebration of Calgary’s religious diversity. The profile and purpose of faith communities in Calgary is acknowledged and celebrated through the presence of the Mayor at the Breakfast and through direct recognition and appreciation extended by the Calgary Interfaith Council.  People from diverse faiths experience a renewed sense of belonging and connection.
